From Denver to Switzerland

I’m Swiss, but I’ve traveled across America from coast to coast. Along the way, I got to know the American way of life the people, the landscapes, the traditions, and the simple things that make a trip special: good food, a great barbecue, good company, and unforgettable experiences.

That journey taught me something important: I know Switzerland from the inside, and I understand what American travelers appreciate when they come here.

I still remember exactly where I was when I first heard the news that Lucerne’s famous Chapel Bridge had burned. I was in Denver, Colorado. That moment stayed with me a reminder of how deeply connected I already felt to both sides of the Atlantic.

Switzerland and America may be different, but we share more than you might think: a love for good food, gathering around a table, grilling with friends, and enjoying life.

And yes we both love cheese and chocolate.

As the sun sets behind the mountains, Morcote transforms into a magical place. I found myself at a quiet lakeside bench, watching the golden hues dance on the water. The sky turned shades of pink and orange, reflecting on the historic buildings. A peaceful walk along the promenade, with the soft sound of waves, made this one of the most breathtaking sunsets I have ever experienced.
Winding through Morcote’s cobblestone streets, I climbed the ancient stone steps leading to the Church of Santa Maria del Sasso. With every step, the village below looked even more picturesque. The stunning frescoes inside and the unmatched panoramic view from the top made the climb worth every moment. I stood there, taking in the breathtaking scenery, feeling as if time had paused for a while.
Tucked away in Morcote is a garden like no other – Parco Scherrer, a world of exotic plants, statues, and architectural wonders. As I wandered through the park, I found Greek columns, an Indian temple, and bamboo forests. Each turn felt like stepping into a different culture. Sitting on a quiet bench, surrounded by fragrant flowers and birdsong, I realized Morcote holds more than just Swiss beauty—it’s a global escape.
No trip to Morcote is complete without enjoying a meal by the lake. I found a charming restaurant with a terrace overlooking the water. A plate of fresh lake fish, homemade risotto, and a glass of Ticino Merlot made for a perfect meal. With the sound of the waves and the warmth of the setting sun, it was more than just dinner—it was an experience to remember.
